Janeen Williams

Professor Williams is the Head of Reference & Educational Programs Librarian. She administers the law school's Excellence in Legal Research program, coordinates the first-year Legal Practice research workshops, and coordinates daily reference operations. She teaches Legal Practice research workshops and teaches in the Excellence in Legal Research program. She also teaches upper-level courses in Texas Legal Research and Advanced Legal Research. 

Professor Williams is active in the American Association of Law Libraries. She has served on numerous committees, including the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Conference of Newer Law Librarians Committee. Professor Williams received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Mercer University. She returned to UNC to obtain her Master's in Library Science. Professor Williams began her law library career as a Reference Librarian at North Carolina Central School of Law. More recently, she was employed at the Law Library of Congress as a Senior Legal Reference Librarian.

Her research focuses on work team effectiveness in law libraries, salary negotiation in libraries, and library training and retention best practices.
