Cathleen Wharton

Professor Wharton is Director of the Legal Writing Program at the University of Georgia School of Law. She received an A.B.J. in Journalism, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1979 and her J.D. degree with honors from Georgia in 1983. From 1983 -1987, she was affiliated with the law firm, Cook, Tolley, Aldridge & Morris in Athens, Georgia, and worked in the area of medical malpractice litigation. Professor Wharton has been an adjunct faculty member in the Paralegal Studies Program at the Athens Area Technical Institute, teaching legal research and legal writing to paralegal students. She is also an adjunct faculty member with the Institute for Continuing Judicial Education, and presents seminars and workshops for judges of all levels. Professor Wharton was a legal research and writing teacher at the University of Georgia Law School from 1983-1987, when she assumed her current position of director. She is a member of the Legal Writing Institute and of the Association of Legal Writing Directors.
