Non Legal Resource: Online News Sources

This lesson will outline some of the most common online news sources sought and how to find them.


Many of the skills used to find some of the more common online news sources can be transferable to finding other specialized sources. This lesson is designed to provide general guidance on locating domestic news sources on Lexis and Westlaw. It does not include most international news sources or social media services such as Blogs, Podcasts, and Facebook. For in-depth information on these resources, students should consult a local librarian.


Learning Outcomes


On completion of the lesson, the student will be able to:


  1. Identify sources of current and older newspaper articles.
  2. Employ effective strategies for efficient searching of news sources on Westlaw and Lexis.
  3. Recall where to find assistance identifying news sources and conducting searches.
